Joe Davis picked up his morning paper and read of the war brewing in mexico while drinking his coffee on that warm Sunday morning. A war veteran and patriot himself, he always payed attention to the troops wellbeing and the politics of the country he put his life on the line for. Recently the troops moved into Blackwater and had been training nearby the church he always attended every Sunday. Joe put on his best suite, trimmed his beard and headed out the door, but decided he would stop by and pay his respects to the soldiers, after all they were fighting for his country. As he approached he could see their new uniforms and remembered what it felt like to be in one, to wear those stripes on your shoulder and receive utmost respect from those around you. As he approached the men, the commanding officer shouted some words and they opened fire on Jim. He lay in a pool of his own blood while the soldiers laughed and he passed away on that sunday morning...
some say you can still see Joe in his best suite, walking to church on Sunday nights. others say if you listen closely you can hear someone humming the "God Bless America" outside the church graveyard...
