PostSubject: The snap of a Twig   Tue Apr 12, 2011 1:34 am

Colonel Evans of the U.S Army was leading his troops through the dense forest's of Tall Trees on a mission to search for the Confederate base. He scanned through the tree's and bushes for he could tell somthing wasnt right. "theres a camp ahead sir!" one of his men said "keep it down!" Evans replied. they approached the camp with caution, Evens could tell the forest was a little to quiet. His men sighted two ammo boxes in the camp and hopped off their horses to help themselves, just then Evens hear a twig snap and dynamite blew a few feet from his horse. one of the men was screaming as he dropped down covering his bloody face. Gun shots erupted from the forest and echoed through the hills, Evens could see his men drpping down one by one. "what do we do sir!" Private Langley said with panick. "pull out!" Evens replied with anger, even though pulling back was the last thing he wanted to do. he looked back at private langley just to see a headless corpse on the forest floor, a pool of blood turning the green grass red. His men fired into the forest in panic, firing at bushes, trees rocks anything that looked like a person. they got to higher ground and scoped out the woods. One man could be seen in a grey hat and coat runing toward the river, "theres one!" Private Becket shouted. the men charged at the lone rebel but Becket's horse was already shot. he tried to catch up but all he could hear were the echoes of gunshots in the trees, further and further away. Suddenly he felt cold steel against the back of his head, "drop your weapons, your comin with me..."

Colonel Evans and his troops finally got to a safe location, on the riverside. the gunshots ceased and they did a headcount. "32...32 men out of 50 dead..." he said quietly as he studied each of their faces. Grief was filling his chest, 32 families with a father, brother or son that wouldn't be coming home. Part of Evans blamed himself but war is war. "sir, up river!" a soldier shouted. Evans looked at where the soldier was pointing to see Two confederates with one prisoner riding up the mountain. "Lets get our man back!" he shouted as him and his men charged up river.

But little did he know what waited up the mountain would be far more than what he bargained for...
